Preparing illy moka

Moka pot (Stovetop Percolator)

  1. Fill the base of the pot with cold water up to the safety valve.
  2. Place the filter into the base and fill it with illy moka ground coffee. Do not compact the coffee.
  3. Screw the top section onto the bottom ensuring a tight seal.
  4. Place the pot onto a stove on low heat. The coffee will begin to fill the upper portion of the pot. When the flow begins to splutter and a gurgling sound commences, remove from the stove and serve.
  5. Wash the pot in water and mild detergent and dry after each use.

Plunger (French Press)

  1. Begin with the plunger unit out of the pot.
  2. Place one heaped tablespoon (7-8g) for every 200ml water.
  3. Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot.
  4. Immeadiately place the plunger unit in the pot above the water level and press the coffee using a slow, downward motion. Lowering slowly with minimal pressure produces best results and prevents hot water shooting out from the spout.
  5. Wash the pot with water and mild detergent and dry after each use.
